Technical & Organic Search Audit
A full technical, organic, local and AI-search audit of oracleenergy.com.au. One defect sits underneath most of the others, and it is fixable this week.
oracleenergy.com.au · 8 pages · Squarespace · Narngulu / Geraldton, WA
Loading https://www.oracleenergy.com.au/ — the address on your business cards, your email signature, your Google listing and every backlink you own — returns an HTTP 404 error. There is no redirect to the real homepage at /home.
Verified from four directions: with and without www, over http and https, and using Google's own crawler identity. All four return 404. Your Google Business Profile's “Website” button points at this same broken address.
Everything below is real, but this is the one that is actively costing you enquiries every day it stays live.
Measured 10 August 2026. Speed and conversion figures are taken from the working homepage at /home, not the 404 page.
These are not optimisations. Each one is a broken mechanism that is losing traffic or enquiries right now.
The site logo in the header links to / on all 8 pages. Every visitor who clicks your logo to “go home” lands on a 404. It is the only broken internal link on the site, and it is on every page.
The knock-on effects are wide: your XML sitemap omits / entirely, your structured data declares the business URL as the 404 address, and your Google Business Profile sends searchers there too. Any link equity pointing at the root is currently landing on an error page.
/home as the site's homepage in Squarespace so the root address serves it directly, or 301-redirect / to /home. Then repoint the logo link, add the root URL to the sitemap, and update the website field on your Google Business Profile. This is a settings change, not a rebuild. All 8 pages carry <meta name="description" content=""> — present but blank. Google is left to scrape whatever text it can find for your search snippet, which means the one line of sales copy you control in the results page is being written by an algorithm.
Page titles are equally generic: “Home — Oracle Energy”, “Services — Oracle Energy”. They contain no service and no location, so they match nothing a buyer would type.
The homepage contains no tel: link and no mailto: link. Your phone number (08) 9965 5222 is reachable only by navigating to the contact page and copying it manually. On a phone — which is where most site visits happen — there is nothing to tap.
There is also no enquiry form on the homepage, so every enquiry requires a deliberate second click to reach one.
Oracle Energy ranks #1 for the search “oracle energy” — people who already know you. Across every commercial term describing what you actually do, the site does not appear in the top 100. There are also no keywords sitting in striking distance on page two, which means there is nothing part-way there to nudge.
Australian monthly search volumes for terms matching your actual service lines, from Google's own keyword data. Oracle Energy ranks for none of them.
| Search term | Volume / mo | Value per click | You rank? |
|---|---|---|---|
| level 2 electrician | 1,900 | $40.47 | No |
| electrician geraldton | 590 | $12.89 | No |
| geraldton electrical | 590 | $12.89 | No |
| wet hire | 480 | $3.00 | No |
| overhead powerlines | 210 | — | No |
| elevated work platform hire | 170 | $3.88 | No |
| cable jointing | 170 | — | No |
| electrical infrastructure | 70 | $10.74 | No |
| electrical contractors wa | 50 | $11.42 | No |
| electrical contractor geraldton | 40 | $7.44 | No |
| crane hire geraldton | 40 | $12.00 | No |
| substation construction | 20 | $9.38 | No |
| mining electrical contractor | 20 | $2.36 | No |
| oracle energy (brand) | 50 | — | #1 |
Reading these numbers honestly: these are national Australian volumes, and the Mid West is a small share of that — so treat them as relative priority, not a traffic forecast. What matters more here is value per click. At $40 a click for “level 2 electrician” and $12–13 for the Geraldton terms, this is high-intent commercial demand where a handful of the right enquiries pays for the work many times over. The eight-page site simply has nowhere for any of it to land.
Your services page lists powerline infrastructure, HV and LV cable jointing, underground network installation, deep earthing and more — all compressed into a single 554-word page. Google has one page to rank for every service you offer, so it ranks for none of them.
Supporting pages are thinner still: Our Equipment is 65 words and Contact is 33 words. Two junk pages — /style-guide and /404 — are indexable and sitting in your sitemap.
/style-guide and /404 from the sitemap and noindex them. For a company delivering HV powerline infrastructure to mining and government clients, the single category “Electrician” puts you in the domestic sparky bracket. The profile also carries zero photos and one review, left five years ago — 2,037 days without a new one.
The profile's website link points at the 404 address, so searchers who do find you on Maps hit an error page.
Mobile scores 50/100 with a largest-contentful-paint of 11.4 seconds — Google considers anything over 2.5s poor. Desktop is acceptable at 2.4s. The page ships 1.8 MB across 69 requests, including 326 KB of unused JavaScript and 129 KB of unused CSS from the Squarespace platform.
Nine oversized images are served straight from the CDN without compression, and 39 images carry no width or height attributes.
Across the site, 35 images carry no alt text — an accessibility gap as much as an SEO one, and a real consideration for government and mining tender work.
The only structured data on the site is a bare WebSite tag, and the URL it declares is the 404 address. There is no Organization, no LocalBusiness and no Service markup, so search engines have no machine-readable record of who you are, where you are, or what you sell.
The backlink profile is small — 26 links from 19 domains, 63% of them nofollow. Only one is a genuine Australian business link (surequote.com.au).
More notably, four links have arrived since July 2026 from a private blog network, using the anchor text “High Quality Dofollow Backlinks DA 50 PA 40 Premium PBN Network Service oracleenergy.com.au…”. The overall spam score sits at 36/100. Nobody at Oracle Energy is likely to have bought these; low-quality networks scrape and target domains automatically.
Agent-readiness scores 24/100. A large part of that is the root 404 — an AI crawler visiting your domain receives an error page and nothing else, so fixing the homepage lifts this score on its own.
Genuine remaining gaps: no llms.txt, effectively no structured data, and no content-usage policy. The good news is that your robots.txt does not block AI crawlers, so you are not locked out of ChatGPT, Claude or Perplexity — there is simply little for them to read.
llms.txt pointing assistants at your services, service area and capability statement.Ordered by return, not by effort. The first column is largely configuration work and should not wait.
/home serve at the root, or 301 redirect itllms.txt and AI-readable contentOracle Energy has been trading since 2001, holds real credentials and serves demanding mining and government clients. There is no reputational problem to fix and no penalty to recover from. The site has simply never been set up to be found — and the single biggest defect is a settings change. Fix the homepage, give each service its own page, and you start from a genuinely clean base.
